Also known as Godfather of Harlem, Black Caesar, starring Fred Williamson and Gloria Hendry with music by James Brown, is a 1970s blaxploitation remake of the 1931 gangster classic Little Caesar. Having endured racism and adversity as a New York City youth in Harlem, Tommy Gibbs (Williamson) has been turned to a life of crime following a brutal race motivated assault from a white policeman. Now an adult, he heads an all-black crime syndicate centered in Harlem and starts to wage war against the stronghold of Italian gangsters also in New York.

Keeping a strangle hold on his associates (the racist cop among them!) he falls for a singer named Helen (Gloria) but things are far from perfect and his violent tendencies driver her from him. She conspires with his enemies to bring out his downfall. After a failed assassination attempt, can he retrieve his damaging ledger book and make it out of Harlem alive?
