In the early through the mid-1970s a genre of movies labeled "black exploitation" was responsible for dozens of films from African-American perspective. Black Gunn starred James Brown, the noted former football player. Brown played his typical, rough and tough character. This time he was only known as Gunn, a nightclub owner in Los Angeles. His brother is part of a military all-black group who pull off a heist of a mafia bookmaking organization. Gunn's brother, Scott Gunn, is a Vietnam vet and the head of the black group. Scott seeks refuge with his brother after the robbery goes bad and people on both sides are killed. Martin Landau, the local Mafia head, orders an all out assault on anyone who might have been connected with the theft. A master assassin, played by Bruce Glover, is soon on the trail of the Gunn brothers. The action is fast and furious and the body count adds up quickly from the gun play on everyone's part.
