Preston Waters is just a regular kid except he is the 12 year old son of a frugal investor who tries too hard to teach his son the value of money. With his father constantly withholding money from him and his annoying brothers Preston has had enough! He just wants to have normal spending money like everyone else. Preston almost gets ran over by some guy in the bank parking lot and his bike gets destroyed. The man driving the car accidentally hands him a blank check to replace his bike with. He sees an opportunity he can't pass up. Preston gets an idea because he is tired of his parents never giving him any money and frustrated with his brothers. He uses his computer to print the check out for $1,000,000 to an alias Mr. Macintosh and the bank actually cashes it for him. It is Preston's dream come true. The man Carl Quigley who accidentally handed him the check is a bank robber who just escaped from prison and the check was meant for someone else. The person at the bank who cashed the check is a criminal too and he gave the money to the wrong person. So everyone involved is desperate to find Preston and get the money back. Preston now loaded with cash goes on a shopping spree in Mr. Macintosh's name and buys everything he could possibly want. F.B.I. agent Shay Stanley is posted undercover at the bank to investigate the millionaire Mr. Macintosh for money laundering. Meanwhile Preston buys a castle, a limo, and anything else a 12 year old could want. He is having too much fun spending all of his money to even consider the fact that maybe someone wants it back. The bank robber, the F.B.I, and anyone who is aware of the money go on a manhunt to locate the boy and the fictional Mr. Macintosh. Preston is learning the value of money the hard way. This action filled adventure is a lesson Preston will never forget.
