Boarding Gate is a dramatic thriller that follows a former prostitute, Sandra (Asia Argento) as she tries to start a new life. International businessman Miles Rennberg (Michael Madison) has announced his plans to retire to his partner, Andrew (Alex Descas). Then, Sandra arrives at Miles’ office and berates him for their abusive relationship, where he used her to seduce clients and gain inside information. In return for her silence, she wants money to fund a Beijing nightclub. Miles agrees to her demand, and invites her to come to his apartment later that evening. Sandra has been working for an import/export business run by married couple Sue and Lester Wang (Kelly Lin, Carl Ng). Sandra has been secretly using the Wangs’ business to facilitate a drug dealing sideline. Lester surprises Sandra when she goes to meet a drug contact, as he has become suspicious of her recent behavior. Lester and Sandra return to her apartment for a sexual interlude, clearly part of a longstanding affair. Afterwards, Sandra visits Miles in his apartment, where he has plans for an erotic and kinky evening. When Miles takes a phone call, Sandra playfully puts the handcuffs on him, then coldly shoots him. After covering her tracks, Sandra makes her way to Hong Kong, where Lester has arranged to have someone help her begin a new identity. But rather than helping Sandra, the contact tries to kill her. Sandra manages to escape, but has no money, credit cards or passport. Sandra tries to reach Lester, but instead gets his wife, Sue, who meets her and reveals that the couple has played Sandra for their own devious plans. Sue has arranged for Sandra to take a new, well-paid job elsewhere, but Sandra tracks down Lester. She carries a knife with intentions of revenge, but sees him meet with Andrew and receive a payoff for getting rid of Miles. Sandra decides to walk away and begin her new life.
