Jimmy Livingston (who is played by accomplished actor Jake Gyllenhaal from movies like The Day After Tommorrow, Brokeback Mountain, and Jarhead) is born into the world without having an immune system. Since he’s allergic to everything, he lives inside of a sterilized dome in his room. This awkward place where he resides gives him the name Bubble Boy. Jimmy’s pretty much isolated from the outside world. Mrs. Livingston (played by Swoosie Kurtz star of the 1990’s NBC drama Sisters and CBS’s Mike and Molly) is a very devout Christian lady who only thinks that her son should read Highlights magazine and Land of the Lost for fun. One day a girl moves in next door, and Jimmy automatically falls in love with her. Chloe (who is played by actress Marley Shelton from films like The Sandlot, Nixon and Warriors of Virtue) tells Jimmy that she is moving to Niagra Falls to marry her boyfriend. She leaves him a globe with the words “I Love You” inside, and Jimmy believes that his first love is going to be marrying the wrong man. Jimmy, filled with emotion, builds a movable, portable bubble suit around himself and makes his way to Niagra Falls to save the love of his life. On the way there, he runs into a cult that’s on their weird spiritual path and a biker with a flat tire in the desert, takes a trip to Las Vegas, boards a train that’s full of circus nuts, and proceeds to encounter much more on his quest to stop Chloe’s wedding. Bubble Boy is directed by Blair Hayes (who also worked on the hit movie Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me). This film also stars Danny Trejo (from movies like Desperado and Con Air) and John Carroll Lynch (from CBS’s The Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire and HBO’s Carnivale).
