While in Austria for asthma treatment, a young boy befriends a baron that leaves him mystified with stories of his past. The boy quickly discovers that his new friend has an ulterior motive for his kindness toward the boy. The baron quickly and cruelly brushes him to the side to pursue his mother. The baron swoons over the mother and the boy grows jealous of the lack of both his mother's and the baron's attention and affection.
