Carry On... Don't Lose Your Head is a comedy film released in 1967, directed by Gerald Thomas and produced by Peter Rogers. It was the thirteenth film in the "Carry On" series and starred Sidney James, Kenneth Williams, Jim Dale and Joan Sims among others. The storyline follows the French Revolution era when the aristocracy was at risk of losing its heads, literally. With the beheading of Louis XVI, the situation in France is becoming more and more dangerous for the aristocrats. At this crucial time, Sir Rodney Ffing (Sidney James), a staunch royalist, arrives in France disguised as a notorious black sheep of the French aristocracy, the elusive "Black Fingernail". His mission is to rescue the French prince and save the aristocracy, and he soon finds himself caught up in a trap involving mistaken identities, romance, and daring escapades.

Alongside him, we meet the loyal and capable Citizen Camembert (Kenneth Williams), who becomes his ally and helps him navigate the dangerous territory of revolutionary France. The two of them get caught up in a series of adventures that involve cross-dressing, mistaken identities, sword fights, and narrow escapes.

One of the most memorable scenes of the film involves Sir Rodney and Citizen Camembert disguising themselves as a Baron and his wife to infiltrate a grand ball where they believe the French prince is being held. Their plan is complicated when the real Baron and his wife show up, leading to hilariously awkward situations and a chaotic game of musical chairs.

Jim Dale plays the role of the hapless hero, a servant named "Desiree Dubarry" who becomes involved in the revolution almost by accident. He falls in love with a comely revolutionary named "Fleur" (Angela Douglas) and finds himself inadvertently caught up in Sir Rodney's plan to rescue the prince.

One of the most notable aspects of the film is the abundance of physical comedy, puns, wordplay, and slapstick. The jokes come fast and furious, and the overall effect is one of hilarious chaos. The film also includes some light social commentary on the excesses of the aristocracy, the dangers of revolutionary zeal, and the importance of loyalty.

The set design and costumes are particularly noteworthy, with the production team paying close attention to detail to create an authentic recreation of the French Revolution era. The film's soundtrack also adds to the ambiance, with stirring orchestral pieces and rousing French national anthems.

Overall, Carry On... Don't Lose Your Head is a fun and entertaining comedy romp that will leave you in stitches. It remains a classic of British cinema, with its talented cast, witty script, and clever direction making it stand the test of time. Fans of the "Carry On" series will not be disappointed, and newcomers to this classic comedy franchise are sure to find plenty to enjoy.
