The girls, who live in a run-down orphanage, have little hope that they will receive any gift for Christmas, until a new girl named Rose arrives. Unlike the other girls, Rose is full of life and a ray of sunshine in the sad and gloomy orphanage. She quickly befriends everyone, especially the shy and quiet little girl, Emily. The girls' hopes are lifted when they receive invitations to a Christmas party at the lavish home of the town's wealthiest man, whose wife has a soft spot for orphaned children.
