Ch?shingura 1/47 is a Japanese made-for-television historical period drama from 2001. The film explains the story of Asano Naganori, a man who struck Kozenosuke within Edo Castle, despite Kozenosuke's role in raising the boy into manhood. Despite receiving only a flesh wound, Asano is forced to perform ritual suicide. The 47 lordless samurai of Asano, directed by Asano's main advisor, return to Edo Castle in order to claim vengeance against Kozenosuke. Although the men are victorious in their pursuit, the Tokugawa Shogunate has plans for them in the future.
