Elizabeth is an orphan girl who lives in an orphanage. Her older sister works there to ensure that she fulfills her promise to her parents that the sisters remain together. All that changes when a wealthy Edward Morgan shows up for a board meeting. He meets little Elizabeth and immediately falls in love with her. He wants to adopt her as his child and he is willing to take Mary along too. He does not want either of the girls to feel obligated to him, so he lies about his true identity.
