Danger Freaks shows the movie stunt world in all its death-defying reality. Rope sliding off a 300 foot cliff is a tricky maneuver at the best of times. Try doing it liberally doused with gasoline, blazing head to foot! It's all in a day's work for daredevil Grant Page who masterminded the stunts for "Mad Max" and "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" to name but two films in a long and celebrated movie career that has taken him all over the world. Danger Freaks examines the perilous occupation and the dangerous pleasures of Australia's most famous stuntman. What this guy goes on weekends takes 'adventure' to a new level - like venturing beyond the rail at the top of the Empire State Building. In this 90 minute film Grant talks candidly about his ego drive and recreates several of his most precarious stunts. The human catapult off a Sydney harbor cliff is a hair-raising start and the pace doesn't let up as Grant and his colleagues demonstrate the basic techniques necessary to stage flights, fall from horses, burst into flames, crash land hang gliders and smash cars to pieces. With a risky and hazardous feat every minute Danger Freaks is a video encyclopedia of the stuntman's art.
