Dead Time Stories is a horror anthology film released in 1986, directed by Jeffrey Delman. The film is comprised of three stories, each one delivered by a host named Michael (played by actor and comedian Michael Mesmer) who serves as a narrator and shares tales of terror with the audience. The first story is titled "Valley of the Shadow" and follows a woman named Betty (played by Nicole Picard) who moves to a small town with her husband, Stuart (played by Matt Mitler), and their child. After settling in, Betty begins to experience strange occurrences in and around the new home. As the days go on, she discovers that the town is home to a cult who performs sacrificial rituals in honor of their deity. Betty finds herself in danger as she tries to protect her family from the cult members.
The second story is titled "Wet" and follows a group of teenagers who visit an abandoned house on Halloween night. The group consists of girls named Cathy (played by Cathryn de Prume) and Mary (played by Melissa Leo) along with boys named Ken (played by Scott Valentine) and Ralph (played by Chris DeRose). The group decides to tell each other scary stories, but then, strange things begin to happen to them. They soon realize that they may not be alone in that mysterious old house.
The third and final story is titled "A Night on The Town" and begins with a woman named Maggie (played by Karen Chapman) who goes on a blind date with a man named Richard (played by Scott Valentine). After their dinner, Richard takes Maggie to a seedy bar, where they meet another couple, a punk girl with a mohawk named Sarah (played by Melissa Leo) and her boyfriend. The four of them are dared by a group of punks to go into the city's infamous "Zone," an area of the city known for being extremely dangerous. They soon come to realize that venturing into the Zone may have been a bad idea and may have dire consequences for them all.
The film is a fun and spooky homage to classic horror anthologies like Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, and Twilight Zone. The stories are all unique and enjoyable in their own way, and the actors give performances that are believable and engaging. While the special effects may seem dated compared to current horror films, they still hold up and add to the overall enjoyment of the movie.
Overall, Dead Time Stories is a solid horror anthology that is perfect for fans of the genre. With three distinct tales, each with their own unique twists and turns, viewers are sure to be entertained by the film's blend of horror, humor, and suspense.
