Embrace of the Vampire is an erotic vampire thriller starring television star Alyssa Milano. Milano is best remembered from her child role as Samantha Micelli on the prime time situation comedy Who's the Boss? She basically grew up in front of the camera over that show's 8 year run. This film was pivotal in transforming Milano from the squeaky-clean image of her television persona to a much more adult and sexually charged character. Embrace of the Vampire is a coming-of-age story in a very different type of scenario. Milano portrays the lead character, Charlotte Wells. She is a very meek and virginal college student who lives a very chaste existence with her boyfriend, Chris, who is played by Harold Pruett. Charlotte's life is turned upside down as she starts to have very intense and vivid sexual dreams about a dark stranger whom she eventually realizes is a vampire. Charlotte has to face the timeless internal struggle of good versus evil. Despite the erotic lure of the Vampire, played by Martin Kemp, Charlotte still feels a strong love for Chris. Other sexually charged characters dance in and out of the story, including Jordan Ladd, who plays Eliza. Charotte and Eliza share an intimate moment as well, brought upon by Charlotte's distressing sexual dreams. The penultimate scene is Charlotte's last dream. In this dream she has to make the final decision. She can either choose to stay with Chris and continue her life or be seduced by the dark stranger to live an eternal life as a vampire. The cast is rounded out by Jennifer Tilly, Rebecca Ferrati, John Riedlinger, Rachel True, and Charlotte Lewis. Embrace of the Vampire earns its rating; you'll see Alyssa Milano in a very new light. The film's promotional poster has a tag line that sums the movie up very well. It says, "The Innocence is Over."
