Final is a 2001 science fiction film that explores the fragile nature of identity, delusion and memory. Upon waking from a coma, Bill (Denis Leary) suffers from delusions of persecution, ranting about experiments and injections, all the while fearing that he is in danger from the people around him. His tenacity in trying to prove his sanity is impressive, given he believes he was an experiment in cryogenics, and that he was thawed 400 years into the future. He does not remember what happened to him initially, yet his crazed rants soon come with more lucidity. The film covers a series of interactions with a psychiatrist wherein Bill begins to remember his history, uncovering various traumatic events he’d lived through. He begins to discover that he may not be as delusional as he had previously thought.
