'Flesh and Blood' starring Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Leigh is a film set in the early 1500's. The film is about a mercenary soldier who leads a group of mercenarians and camp followers after they are betrayed by the lord whom they were hired to help in regaining his lands. Martin (Hauer) makes an agreement with Lord Armonlfini to take possession of his castle and lands back, in exchange Martin and his soldiers will be allowed to plunder the village and retain the riches that they find. However, Armonlfini soon goes back on his promise and forces the band to relinquish what they gained and leave the lands under threat of death. Martin and his band find a temporary shelter as one of the camp followers gives birth to a still born child. While burying the child Martin finds a buried statue of his patron saint and the priest who is part of the group decrees it as a sign from above that Martin is to be their leader. Martin decides that the group must find their own stronghold and seek their revenge on Armonlfini. In the meantime, Armonlfini has arranged a marriage between his son Steven and the daughter of a rich lord, Agnes (Leigh), who is on her way to their land. Steven, at first, is reluctant but he and Armonlfini travel to meet Agnes' traveling party and he finds himself becoming interested in Aganes as he gets to know her. Catching the caravan by surprise, Martin and his group attack and wound Armonlfini and take Agnes prisoner before capturing a castle keep and taking control of it. Agnes quickly realizes that she must feign adoration for Martin in order to avoid being attacked by the other soldiers. Martin, attracted to Agnes, decrees she is his mate and that no one else must touch her. However, Agnes loyalty will be tested when Steven attempts to rescue her.
