This movie, a remake of the original 1963 version, is the story of a young boy who is unwillingly sent to live with his eccentric, bachelor uncle for the summer. Angry because he is going to miss a concert he really wants to attend and upset that he has to live with a relative he barely knows, Sandy's attitude is not the best when he first arrives in the Florida Keys. Shortly after he moves in, he helps save a young dolphin from a fishing crew and the boy and fish become fast friends. The remainder of the summer is a blur of adventure where Sandy, his uncle and the dolphin bond together and become involved in halting the dumping of toxic wastes into the ocean waters. This movie is a family film that also has an underlying message of the dangers of polluting seas and rivers that fish and other animals reside in.
