Frozen Kiss is a drama film from 2009. The movie follows the story of a young woman named Jackie Winters (Cameron Goodman), who is one of the newest members of a far-north community situated in Canada. Jackie finds herself turning to entrepreneurial pursuits in order to make ends meet. While she's selling snowmobiles, she runs into a local psychopath, Dennis Riggs (Jamie Martz). Dennis is known to be an extremely charismatic young man, and Jackie feels herself being drawn into his orbit. However, Jackie soon learns that Dennis is not what he seems, and his true intent is to take advantage of her.

The film also stars Mimi Rogers as Jackie's mother, who is very concerned about her daughter's safety as she is traipsing around with a violent and unsavory young man. She tries to get through to Jackie and warn her about Dennis, but Jackie doesn't seem to believe her. This causes a strain between the mother and daughter, but ultimately they both care for one another and want the best for each other.

The movie takes place in the distant wilderness of Canada and the cinematography is breathtaking. The snow-covered landscape is vast, serene, and beautiful. However, the ominous score and the intense performances by the actors create a lot of tension and unease. The film often takes a slow pace, and the quiet stillness of the scenery is juxtaposed with the menace that arises between the characters.

The acting performances are also impressive. Cameron Goodman is convincing in the role of Jackie, conveying the character's naivete and innocence while also revealing her more ambitious and adventurous side. Jamie Martz is quite creepy in the role of Dennis. He manages to balance the character's charm and his sense of danger very well, giving the audience a strong sense of unease whenever he's on screen. Mimi Rogers is an excellent addition to the cast, and her portrayal of Jackie's mother gives the film some emotional gravitas.

Frozen Kiss is also curious in its exploration of human behavior in isolated environments. The characters are mostly confined to this small town, and the film highlights how their inability to escape their surroundings can fuel a sense of desperation and compulsion with disastrous consequences. It raises questions about identity, morality, and survival as the characters navigate through their individual paths.

Furthermore, Frozen Kiss's soundtrack is atmospheric and reflects the suspenseful tone of the film. It is almost electronic in nature, filled with eerie sounds that contribute to the tense atmosphere of the movie. It complements the sequences and visuals well, and provides an eerie backdrop that emphasizes the isolation and anxiety of the characters.

Overall, Frozen Kiss is a strong drama with impressive visuals, excellent acting, and an enthralling storyline. Its slow-build style and brooding sense of atmosphere give the film a character all its own. It's not often that movies set in the snow-covered, northern wilderness are quite as captivating as this one. Though it doesn't necessarily break new ground in terms of the story, it remains a well-executed film that is perfect for a gray winter's evening.

Frozen Kiss is a 2009 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.0.
