Gardens of the Night details the lives of two charismatic people, a girl and a boy, from childhood to early adulthood. The focus of the film is on the personal thoughts and feelings of the characters, yet is told through actual events. The movie gives insight into many tragic aspects in our society that most viewers never have to deal with in their lives. The story is laid out cleverly, both in the way it discloses itself, and the order in which it does so. At one point, quite far into the plot, the audience is shown a scene which involves a pertinent detail about one of the children's predators that gives shocking clarity to earlier scenes.
