The film centers around an older couple who are live in a small community in New Jersey. They have lived in the community their entire lives. They like to organize block parties and are involved in neighborhood social events. They receive notice that their town is going to be demolished to allow for construction of a ten lane expressway, and they are dismayed by this news. They begin to organize the town's residents to stop the demolition of their homes and block construction of the expressway. Their efforts finally seem to be reaching fruition, when a desperate choice is made.
