Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas is a 2011 made-for-TV movie based upon the popular youth-oriented series of a similar name. All of the regular characters from the TV show appear in this seasonal film as the Duncan family takes an adventurous Christmas vacation. Teddy, played by Bridgit Mendler, is the oldest Duncan daughter. She volunteers to give up her airline ticket in exchange for a free voucher for another planned getaway. Teddy gets off the plane and plans to get to Grandma’s house in California via another route. Her mom Amy, portrayed by Leigh-Allyn Baker, doesn’t want her to be alone, so she gets off the flight as well. Once the family is separated the main plot of the movie is finding a way to get them back together in time for the Christmas festivities. The family stuck in California has a number of obstacles in their way. Gabe, the middle Duncan brother is bored because he can’t play his beloved video games. Charlie, the youngest Duncan family member is busy trying to play with all of Grandma’s Christmas decorations. This gets her daddy, Eric Allan Kramer, in trouble with Grandma because she claims he isn’t watching the little one closely enough. P.J., the eldest Duncan child, gets badly sunburned in the warm California weather. After all of these mishaps the family is eager to hit the road to find Teddy and Amy. Teddy and Amy aren’t having much luck of their own on the road. They try biking, hitch hiking and walking to California but that doesn’t get them very far. At one restaurant they catch a ride with an older couple who claim they were abducted by aliens. The film is a wild ride but has a happy holiday ending. The Duncan family reunites in time for Christmas and mom and dad end up having a surprise in store for their lovable kids. It’s a fun surprise that will make you want to wish all of them good luck.
