Holy Matrimony is a 1994 movie starring Patricia Arquette, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Armin Mueller-Stahl. It is a heartwarming and comedic story that follows a young couple's journey towards true love, despite the many obstacles they face. The premise of the movie is centered around a young couple named Havana and Peter, played by Arquette and Gordon-Levitt, respectively. The couple has been living together for quite some time, but they have yet to tie the knot officially. Peter is a petty thief who has been living a life of crime for most of his youth, but he is ready to turn his life around and settle down with Havana. Havana, on the other hand, is a strong-willed woman who has always dreamt of getting married, but she is hesitant to do so without the approval of her estranged parents.

Things take a dramatic turn when Peter is caught stealing a rare jewel, and the couple is forced to go on the run to avoid the authorities. They find refuge in a small religious community, where they are mistaken for a married couple and are welcomed with open arms. In order to maintain their cover, Peter and Havana are forced to pretend to be husband and wife, which leads to many comedic moments as they try to navigate their new roles.

Throughout the movie, Peter and Havana are forced to confront their past mistakes and their uncertain future, but their love for each other ultimately proves to be stronger than any obstacle they come across. With the help of the community members, they are able to realize that love and acceptance can come from unexpected places, and that sometimes the best things in life are worth fighting for.

The performances in Holy Matrimony are top-notch, particularly those of Arquette and Gordon-Levitt, who have great chemistry as the film's central couple. Arquette's portrayal of Havana is particularly notable, as she projects a strong and fearless image while also revealing her character's vulnerabilities and insecurities. Gordon-Levitt also does an excellent job in bringing depth and nuance to his character, who initially comes across as a bit of a brat but eventually reveals himself to be a caring and compassionate partner to Havana.

The supporting cast is also quite strong, with Mueller-Stahl giving an excellent performance as the wise and compassionate Father Portelli, who is instrumental in helping Peter and Havana on their journey. His scenes with Arquette are particularly moving, as he delivers some of the film's most emotional moments with great sincerity and warmth.

Overall, Holy Matrimony is a charming and uplifting film that is sure to leave viewers with a smile on their face. It tackles serious themes such as love, forgiveness, and redemption, but it does so with a light touch that makes the movie enjoyable throughout. Whether you're a fan of romantic comedies or simply want to watch a movie that will put you in a good mood, Holy Matrimony is definitely worth checking out.
