I Am Love is a tragic film based in Milan, Italy. It tells the story of a wealthy family and details the difficulties and ups and downs the experience over generations. Most of the drama in the film surrounds the occasion of the grandfather’s birthday. For his birthday, the family has planned an elaborate dinner but things do not go as planned. The young brother in the family has lost an important race and many members of the family are ashamed. Two other siblings are upset with the choice of food served at the grandfather’s party. One granddaughter gives her grandfather a beautiful photograph as his birthday present however the grandfather is upset with the gift and does not appreciate it. More drama ensures throughout the night. The mother of the family discovers that one of the daughters is a lesbian, the father of the family is trying to sell the family business, and another sister begins an affair with a married man. Throughout the party, the family learns secrets about one another and sees the effects that their bad acts have on one another.
