After the training camp he makes the team and begins playing in the NFL. In the first game of the regular season he has a mediocre performance. However he bounces back and makes a great play by recovering a fumble and returning it for a touchdown against the division rival New York Giants. During the game the Eagles win and help coach Vermeil earn his first win as the Eagles head coach. Papale would play for the Eagles for two more seasons before leaving football.
