Invincible is a sports drama film that came out in the year 2006. It is a movie about a man named Vince Papale who played for the Philadelphia Eagles during the 1970’s. During the 1970’s the Philadelphia Eagles pro football team experiences a number of losing seasons. Due to the string of mediocrity, the fans get very unhappy with the team’s performance. In order to help provide a spark for the team, the Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil has open tryouts in 1976 to help find some talent and fill a spot on the roster in 1976. This is the process of having random individuals come to training camp and compete for a roster spot. A man named Vince Papale who is a 30 year old bartender is one of the people who tries out for the team. He recently lost his teaching job and due to his lack of professional success, his wife leaves him. To add insult to injury the wife leaves a note telling him that he will never amount to anything in his life. After this he gains the support of the people in the neighborhood to encourage him to try out for the team. As a result he goes in for the tryout and during the first practice, he impresses the head coach of the team. Due to his performance, the coach invites him to come in for training camp. After the training camp he makes the team and begins playing in the NFL. In the first game of the regular season he has a mediocre performance. However he bounces back and makes a great play by recovering a fumble and returning it for a touchdown against the division rival New York Giants. During the game the Eagles win and help coach Vermeil earn his first win as the Eagles head coach. Papale would play for the Eagles for two more seasons before leaving football.
