Kathamma elopes with her lover Sakthi, against the wishes of her parents and they settle in a hilly village, Nagamalai. They live happily and make a livelihood as dhobis. Sakthi gets killed in an uncanny circumstance and Kathamma is forced to marry his brother Selvam. When Kathamma realizes the truth behind her husband's death, she takes revenge.
