At first, Sloan refuses to work with the DEA as helping organizations like this is what landed him in prison in the first place. But, when the officer trying to recruit him informed him that his wife is in the custody of Po, he comes around to their way of thinking and agrees to enter the tournament. He is given a new identity and a dossier on Tom Po, and his fortress and then precedes into Mexico. Once Sloan is in the compound it does not take him long to begin the rescue attempts of his wife, which are not successful. As the tournament progresses, his rescue attempts become more and more desperate, until finally he is captured by Tom Po’s guards and had his true identity revealed under torture. Tom Po then decides that David Sloan needs to be killed, and offers a $100,000 bonus to the first fighter that can do this. However, by this point, the fighters are thoroughly convinced that even if they win the entire tournament and kill David Sloan, they will not live long enough to see their money. So, they begin to fight the guards instead of each other. Even in his weakened state, Sloan defeats the guards with the help of the other fighters and begins to fight Tom Po. In the end, Tom Po is defeated by David Sloan and slinks away like a cowardly dog. At this point, Sloan saves his wife and hugs her to what is a happy ending to the movie.
