"The King of Kings" is one of many movies that depicted the life and times of one of the most famous people in the world named Jesus Christ. Jeffrey Hunter stars in this tale that attempts to give viewers a glimpse into what life was like thousands of years ago. The movie begins by depicting an age-old conflict between the Romans and the Jews. The Jews anticipate a prophet or leader who will free them from the tyranny of Rome. John The Baptist, a fire and brimstone preacher known for rebuking the Pharisees for their servitude to the Romans, is arrested and beheaded shortly after baptizing a young man named Jesus of Nazareth. In "The King of Kings", Jesus is depicted as a mysterious central figure who is a man of the people. His voice is strong and powerful in the famous Sermon On The Mount speech, urging the multitude to turn the other cheek and warning them about the dangers of rebelling against Rome. After appointing all his apostles, they travel the countryside of Galilee, gaining much popularity throughout the land and attracting the attention of the Pharisees, who seek to crucify him.
