Watch La revolution en Russie

Produced shortly after the events it portrays, this 1905 short may not be as visually rich or emotionally stirring as Sergei Eisenstein's BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN but it shows more accurately the role that the ship played in inciting the Russian Revolution (as a narrator helpfully explains in the introduction). After the sailors' leader Grigory Vakulinchuk is shot, the Battleship Prince Potemkin fires on poor sections of Odessa and Russian troops attack the residents.
