The Littles are on their way to New York City to enjoy the Fourth of July festivities. When their air balloon gets blown off course, they crash right into the Statue of Liberty. As they seek to find a way out, they encounter a whole community of little people who have been held captive in the statue for 250 years. When Tom and Lucy Little help Michelle and Pierre escape, they set out on an adventure to discover America. In the process, they learn about the freedoms that have been bestowed on its citizens after America won its independence from the rule of Britain.
