Lifted is a computer generated animation short movie that was written and directed by the Gary Rydstrom. Originally, it was released by Pixar Films and entitled Ratatouille. The story follows Stu, a young alien in a spaceship. He is taking an exam at school pertaining to abduction. His task is to steal away a farmer named Ernie who is sleeping, under the supervision of Mr. B. Stu is expected to work from memory and use a variety of toggle switches with no labels to perform his tasks. Mr. B provides absolutely no ideas as to which ones will work. As a result, every decision that Stu makes is incorrect. This causes Ernie to crash into walls and the ceiling - however, he is not waking up. Stu becomes frustrated as Ernie continues to bounce around the room, knocking furniture over everywhere. Stu eventually checks his notes and is able to maneuver Ernie out of the window and into the vessel. However, he also shuts down the tractor beam and the cargo hatch is still open. Therefore, Ernie falls toward the ground and Mr. B finally takes over, catching him. He speedily works the switches so that Ernie is placed back into bed. He then cleans up the incredible mess that Stu has made. Ashamed of failing, Stu begins to whimp, trying to hold back tears. Mr. B decides to let him launch the spaceship in any case for his trip home. As Stu excitedly takes the steering wheel and begins to maneuver - it drops to the ground, which crushes Ernie's home. When the vessel lifts off, the underside is completely covered in debris and dirt. There is nothing left of the home except for a bunch of dirt located in the crater’s center that was created by the opened cargo hatch. All of the while, Ernie remains in his bed, sound asleep. At the end of the film, Ernie's alarm clock blares. He then yawns, screams and there is a thud as he falls back inside the crater.
