The movie LUV is a street tale that features the rapper Common. This movie also introduces a new young actor by the name of Michael Rainey Jr as Common's nephew in the movie. Common plays a character named Vincent, who has just been released from prison. He is currently living in Baltimore with his mother and she is taking care of his nephew Woody, who is on his way to school when the film starts off. Vincent gives his nephew a ride, but then changes his mind before they get to the school doors, and decides to take a nephew with him for the day to teach him some lessons on being a man. They both end up getting more than what they asked for. Vincent is ambitious and has big ideas. He has plans to open up a small crab shack, he has the business plan and all he needs is a loan from the bank. But then the banker points out some holes in his business plan, and makes him aware that his mother's house has a second mortgage on it, and there is a hefty payment due in the next few days. Vincent is concerned because he has used this house for collateral for his business. Vincent ends up having to find a way to get the money, to take care of these problems. He ends up meeting with old friends, that are involved in the life of crime and drug dealing, something Vincent used to be a part of. While this is going on, there are many different interesting events that happen along the way with Vincent and his nephew. The young boy learns important lessons in life, not in the classroom but on the mean streets of Baltimore. Vincent struggles to put his past behind him, while trying to teach his younger nephew the values on life.
