Many moviegoers are familiar with Spike Lee’s 1992 movie about Malcolm X. The 1972 film about the legendary African American leader is a documentary. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary. The film is the product of two documentary filmmakers named Marvin Worth and Arnold Perl It took three years to make the movie. James Earl Jones narrates the movie. Worth and Perl’s goal is to tell the true story about Malcolm X’s career as well as to discover who was behind his assassination. Malcolm X’s widow Betty Shabazz served as a consultant for the film. She was incredibly pleased with the film. This is a must see film for anyone interested in the Civil Rights Movement, the Black Power Movement and with Malcolm X in particular.
