When US army Lieutenant Winston kills a British non-com officer during WWII, he is ordered to stand trial. The case seems to be an open-and-shut. Therefore, Lieut. Col. Barney Adams seems to be the best possible pick to defend Winston at the trial. The task to hand is to assure a fair trial that leads to a conviction in order to appease the British government. As Adams begins his investigation, he soon realizes that the situation goes a lot deeper than the eleven witnesses who saw the shooting. If Adams is correct, the Army may nor get the result they are wanting.
