The cast includes Elizabeth Hurley as Rebecca, Jeremy Sisto as Jake Fields, Oliver Tobias as Teddy, Carmen du Sautoy as Mother (Mona), John Barrowman as Timothy Stevens, Sam Douglas as Mr. Hinkley and Hannah Yelland as Bethany Fields. The story follows an actress, Rebecca Fairbanks (played by Elizabeth Hurley) who returns to the screen after several years away. She will work on a project out of Romania that tells the story of real life serial killer, Belle Gunness, who murdered over 40 people in the early 20th century for financial gain. Rebecca decides to use her method acting abilities to tackle the role and stays in the same house where many of the murders took place. The story takes a disturbing turn as it begins to parallel real life when actors involved in the movie are killed, inexplicably. The violence in the film is difficult for Rebecca. Soon, Rebecca becomes very entwined with the story - such that she cannot seem to separate reality from fiction. A lot is on the line for this film for her. Since she has been away, her reputation as an actor is at stake. Rebecca winds up needing medicine - but cannot get it. It is becoming even harder than ever to concentrate on the role. She begins to have what she believes are hallucinations. The real life murders become more frightful as more details indicate their similarities to the original murders. She begins to have an attraction for the leading man, who is married. He tries to avoid her but eventually gives in. When his wife finds out, she confronts him and suddenly, she is murdered. They try to pin it on her husband, however, it is Rebecca who has the most motive to get her out of the picture.
