Motives is a film written by Kelsey Scott and directed by Craig Ross Jr. This is a film about love, deception and murder. The film follows the character Emery Sims, whose character is played by Shemar Moore. Emery who is a high powered business man, has an adulterous affair with a woman and gets her pregnant. Emery is not happy about the news of her pregnancy and wants her to take care of it. Allanah, whose character is played by Golden Brooks, decides that she will not only keep the child but also decides to blackmail his wife with the news. Emery's wife Constance, who is played by Vivica A. Fox, learns of the child and decides to pay her off. She confronts Emery with the news and says she's leaving him. In the course of the confrontation, Emery finds out about the payoff and gets really upset that Allanah was paid off. He confronts Allanah about the money she received and soon after she ends up dead. Detectives Pierce and Morgan, played by Victoria Rowell and Mel Jackson, investigate the murder and question the suspects in the case. Emery is questioned about the murder, along with an old boyfriend of Allanah's from the past. Allanah's ex-boyfriend Derrick, whose character is played by Joe Torry is a bad boy who just shows up out of the blue. He sees how well Allanah is doing, and wants in on the scheme, that he thinks she's running. He soon finds himself a suspect in Allanah's murder. Brandon Collier, whose character is played by Sean Blakemore is a long time friend of both Emery and Constance. He is there when things start falling apart for Emery and provides much needed comfort for Constance in her time of need. After Emery is convicted of murder, he realizes that he has been set up by his long time friend Brandon.
