Mr. Boogedy is a 1986 family-friendly horror-comedy movie that tells the story of a family, the Davis family, who moves to a new town, Lucifer Falls, and ends up living in a haunted house. The curse passed down through the years until the Davis family accidentally bought the house.

Soon after they move in, strange things start happening. The family hears unexplainable noises, doors open and shut on their own, and objects move by themselves. The children are particularly frightened by the ghostly presence of Mr. Boogedy, who is a green-tinted figure wearing a colonial-era suit and a top hat.

The family becomes more and more scared as they experience more supernatural occurrences. They are visited by a local historian, Neil Witherspoon (played by David Faustino), who tells them the history of the home and the curse that is attached to it. Neil tries to convince the family to leave the house, but Tom is hesitant to leave because he has already invested a lot of money in the house.

As the haunting intensifies, the family decides that they need to take action against Mr. Boogedy. They discover that they can break the curse by finding Mr. Boogedy's ashes and throwing them away. With the help of a friendly neighbor, Marian (played by Lise Hilboldt), they locate the ashes in the basement of the house. They throw the ashes away in a dumpster and go back to their home.

The movie ends with a twist that sets up a potential sequel. The family is shown enjoying their new life in Lucifer Falls, but the camera pans over to the dumpster where the ashes were thrown and shows Mr. Boogedy's top hat rising out of the trash.
