Watch Never Let Me Go

"These students have everything they need. Except time."

Never Let Me Go is a chilling and haunting movie that explores the relationship between man and science. The movie revolves around a group of three friends that the audience meets first as children and then young adults played by three of the best young British actors of today: Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, and Andrew Garfield. The movie begins by following the three young kids at a seemingly normal boarding school. However, the students soon find out, thanks to a teacher that goes against her orders, that the children have only been bred for the purpose of growing up and donating their organs so that others may live even longer thanks to advancements in medical science. They are referred to as "donor children" and are considered to be less than human. Most of the children are fairly accepting of the news, although they have no choice in the matter and have no idea of the world outside their boarding school and the possibilities their lives would have if they were not forced to be donors.

The story continues when the three are teenagers and have left boarding school, living on their own but in a controlled environment. Tommy, played by Garfield, is in a relationship with Ruth, played by Knightley, but it is known that Kathy, played by Mulligan, has been in love with Tommy since they were children. The love triangle puts a strain on the relationship between Kathy and Ruth, as Ruth is aware of Kathy's feelings for Tommy and isn't afraid to let her know. Ruth and Tommy eventually break up, but Kathy is unable to do anything about it because she has already started training as a carer for donors.

The movie fast forwards once more to young adulthood when Ruth and Tommy have begun making donations, while Kathy is working as a carer. The three friends have not seen one another in years, but a chance meeting between Ruth and Kathy leads Ruth to plot one final reunion among the three of them before they begin to "complete" or die off. It sets up an ending that is both heart breaking and beautiful for the audience.
