"Trance" is the story of a fine art auctioneer named Simon. After being hit on the head, he discovers a theft has occurred in his own auction house. He speaks with his colleague to find out what happened when he was knocked unconscious, but doesn't find any answers from the colleague. Later Simon decides to go to a hypnotherapist to recover the memories of the day just before the art heist occurred. What he discovers instead is a tangled web of lies, deceit that centers in on a woman named Elizabeth. The plot only thickens when Simon discovers that Elizabeth turns out to be an expert hypnotist and she can manipulate any man she wants in order to gain something, while the man is under a trance. Soon after Simon gains his memories back, only to discover that the truth of the heist was too unbelievable to be real. He remembers that his colleague Franck attacks him knocking him unconscious, leaving Elizabeth to give the order to bring out a valuable painting to her in a waiting van. When the painting is loaded onto the van, Franck returns inside to the auction house to pick up Simon, and the van would drive him to the local hospital to drop the unconscious Simon off while the thieves make their getaway. However, the plan goes haywire when Simon comes to in the van strangling the female driver of the van, who he thinks is Elizabeth that's driving. The plot twist comes when Elizabeth reveals that she was in an abusive relationship with a violent man that turns out to be Simon. Using her skills as a hypnotist, Elizabeth uses her ability to make Simon forget that he was with her when she visited him. Later Franck reappears from being submerged in his swimming pool to find a package that was left at his front door. Opening the package he finds an iPad the app called Trance on it, the film ends before Franck pushes the button.
