The 2002 Beltway sniper attacks brought the east coast of the United States to a grinding halt. Blue Caprice not only follows the true story of the two snipers known as John and Lee, but also those closest to them in the months leading up to the deadly attacks. Lee is a troubled youth that is drawn to the excitement and allure of the United States. Once he is within the country he finds John, a man who quickly transitions between a loving father figure and a sadistic killer. Throughout this period they move throughout the east coast, staying with friends when possible, and Lee is exposed to the harsh realities of various slums including drugs. Eventually, John convinces Lee to carry out his first assassination on a random bartender in a secluded town. Over time, this duo carries out murder after murder, each without rhyme or reason as to how they are picking their targets. While the couple is eventually caught and put on trial, the mystery remains as to why these two men carried out this killing spree and how they chose who deserved to die.
