And While We Were Here
- 1 hr 23 min
Jane has decided to further her writing career by traveling to the sun-drenched island of Ischia for seclusion and privacy. She carries with her hundreds of hours of taped interviews of her beloved grandmother that she misses dearly. While on the island, she attempts to overcome writer’s block by crafting a loose biography of her grandmother but the pain of losing someone so close to her seems to be overcoming her writing skill. Meanwhile, Jane’s husband resides in Naples as he prepares for one of the biggest shows of his life. As a skilled viola player, he spends too much time at his craft which has resulted in Jane feeling at least partially neglected. Alone, depressed, and generally unhappy with her life, Jane eventually meets the free spirited American named Caleb. This duo quickly becomes friends as they explore the beautiful island, each in search of inspiration and happiness. As time progresses, the couple can no longer resist their attraction to one another and Jane once again finds herself questioning her life. In the end, Jane must decide if she truly loves her husband and her life or has accepted it without though if it could be better.
