This 2006 American comedy involves a 34-year-old psychologist named Richard Clayton whose angry brother disclosed to him that he was adopted. Clayton, played by Ron Livingston, with the perfect parents and career path to great success, begins his mission to learn who his birth parents really are. His white trash parents, played by Danny DeVito and Kathy Bates, are the crass and tactless Menures, who are failed carnival clowns. After finding them, Clayton's parents follow him home and move in. They bring personal and professional chaos with them, driving him to a nervous breakdown primarily attributable to a clash of classes between the snobs and the snubbed. The snubbed Divito and Bates characters are quite likeable. Clayton's wife, played by Neve Campbell, plays the perfect white bread vegetarian fiancee of the psychologist. She is the complete opposite of the loud and uncouth Bates, as DeVito is to Livingston.
