Renaissance Man is a dramatic comedy-based film that was made in 1994. The movie stars Danny DeVito, Gregory Hines and James Remar. Renaissance Man is about a man named Bill Rago, played by Danny DeVito, who loses his nice job as a businessman in Detroit but is then offered a new opportunity to work as a teacher on a US Army base. On top of being fired, he is also divorced. With little else in terms of options, Rago goes for the job and ends up teaching soldiers who are considered "underachievers," which doesn't go well at first until the students get slightly interested in a Shakespearian play. In the process, however, one of the drill sergeants named Cass, played by Gregory Hines, feels as though the students will fail and if they do, the result is they'll be discharged from the army altogether. Captain Tom Murdoch, played by James Remar, shares a similar sentiment with Cass but also finds himself supporting Rago in his work. The movie Renaissance was directed and produced by Penny Marshall.
