Resistance is a 2011 British drama film directed by Amit Gupta and starring Andrea Riseborough, Alexander Dreymon, Michael Sheen, and Tom Wlaschiha. Based on the novel of the same name by Owen Sheers, the movie is set in an alternative historical period during World War II. The film takes place in the year 1944, during the Nazi occupation of Wales. A group of German soldiers, led by Captain Albrecht Wolfram (Tom Wlaschiha), has taken over the town of Olchon and is forcing the locals to work in the nearby quarries. In the same town, a young woman named Sarah Lewis (Andrea Riseborough) is struggling to make ends meet after her husband was taken away by the Nazis.

Sarah's life takes an unexpected turn when she meets a group of resistance fighters led by Tomasz (Michael Sheen). Tomasz and his friends are planning to sabotage the German war effort by blowing up a dam that supplies power to the nearby factories. They are in desperate need of help, and Sarah agrees to join them.

Meanwhile, a German soldier named Max (Alexander Dreymon) is sent to Olchon to investigate a series of mysterious bombings that have been taking place in the area. Max is a young and idealistic officer who believes in the Nazi cause, but as he begins to investigate the bombings, he slowly begins to realize that the Germans are not invincible.

As the resistance fighters prepare for their mission, tensions between Max and Sarah begin to rise. Max is attracted to Sarah, but he also comes to realize that she is working with the resistance against his own country. Sarah, on the other hand, is torn between her loyalty to her husband, who was taken away by the Nazis, and her growing feelings for Max.

The film features a strong cast, with Riseborough delivering a powerful performance as Sarah, a woman who has to make difficult choices in a time of war. Michael Sheen is also excellent as Tomasz, a man who is willing to risk everything to fight for his country's freedom. Dreymon brings depth and complexity to his character of Max, a soldier who is forced to confront the harsh realities of war.

The movie is beautifully shot, with cinematographer Peter Robertson capturing the rugged beauty of the Welsh countryside and the starkness of the wartime setting. The film also has a haunting score by composer Daniel Pemberton, which adds to the overall sense of foreboding and tension.

Resistance is a powerful and thought-provoking film about the courage of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. It explores themes of resistance, loyalty, love, and sacrifice, and asks important questions about what it means to live in a time of war. The movie is a must-see for anyone interested in World War II history or the human experience of war.

Resistance is a 2011 war movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9.
