Rising Stars is a 2010 American movie that tells of the struggles of two unlikely teenagers who dream of making it big in the entertainment industry. The film stars Natalie Hall, Fisher Stevens, and Barry Corbin. The story follows two teenagers, Dylan Shoenfield (Natalie Hall) and Nick (Dylan Everett), who belong to entirely different worlds. Dylan is the popular girl at Woodlands Academy, a private school where she is known for her fashion and social status. Nick, on the other hand, is from a working-class family and attends a public school on the other side of the tracks. However, both share a common dream of making their mark in the music industry.

Dylan is an expert in designing and creating fashion outfits. One day, she decides to create something unique for her classmate, Lauren, who is preparing for her upcoming performance at school. While helping Lauren with her outfit, Dylan meets Nick, who is also there to help his best friend with his music. Dylan finds Nick irritating, but she later learns that he has the talent to make it big as a musician.

As the two grow closer, they share their love for music and their dreams to make it big. But they soon realize that they stand little chance in the highly competitive industry. However, they also realize that they may have a chance if they work together. They devise a plan to participate in the upcoming talent show, Rising Stars, which can give them an opportunity to showcase their talent and win a recording contract.

However, the plan is not as simple as it seems. The principal of Woodlands Academy, Mr. Gertz (Barry Corbin), is a strict disciplinarian who does not believe that singing and dancing are important. He dashes their hopes of participating in the talent show. Dylan and Nick then decide to enter the contest under a fake name and with the help of their friends.

As they practice and prepare for the contest, they face several challenges, including adjusting to different music styles and navigating their complicated lives. They also fall in love with each other, but their relationship faces challenges as Dylan's popularity and Nick's poverty keep them apart.

The climax of the film takes place at the Rising Stars grand finale. Dylan and Nick are on stage, facing their biggest challenge yet. The duo's performance is nothing short of amazing, and they receive rapturous applause from the audience. But as they leave the stage, their victory is short-lived as they are disqualified for entering the competition fraudulently.

Disheartened and dejected, Dylan and Nick turn to their loved ones for support. But they realize that they have achieved victory by standing up for themselves and living their dream. They go on to pursue their goals, together and separately, as they move towards a brighter future.

Rising Stars is an enjoyable and inspiring movie that encourages young people to follow their dreams, despite the obstacles they may encounter. The film explores issues such as class differences, friendship, love, and determination in a relatable and down-to-earth manner. The musical performances throughout the film are also well-done, and the chemistry between the lead actors is natural and engaging. Overall, Rising Stars is a feel-good teenage drama that is well worth watching.

Rising Stars is a 2010 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.1.
