Pete McKell is an American writer that works for a travel magazine. It is his job that takes him to the rugged Northern terrain of Australia to do research for an article for vacationing in this region. Playing tourist, Pete decides to take a guided boat tour of the rivers to look for crocodiles. With a handful of other tourists, Pete embarks on a journey to look for adventure and they end up getting more than they bargained for. When a flare is spotted in the the distance, Kate Ryan the tour guide decides to investigate in case anyone needs help. Upon arriving on the scene, a busted half submerged boat is discovered. Before anyone can begin to understand what took place, their tour boat is struck by a large man-eating crocodile that sends the group to dry dock on an island in the middle of the river. Little do they know, this island will submerge soon with the coming tide. The survivors are in a race with time to get off the island before they drown or get eaten by this massive prehistoric beast.
