Seven Days in Utopia directed by first time director Matthew Dean Russell, follows the story of a gifted golfer named Luke who has his focus on going pro. His vision takes him on tour where he finds himself unexpectedly lost in Utopia, Texas. The story unfolds as he meets Johnny Crawford who happens to be a rancher in the town. As Luke begins to release some of the tension he is experiencing from his golf focus and self expectations, he begins to realize how important his professional decisions are with a lot more clarity. The film was adapted from David L. Cook's novel Golf's Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia. The central character Luke will connect with moviegoers as he strives to jump through the hurdles that he needs to go pro, and they may understand the pressure that he faces to get there. When he accidentally befriends Johnny Crawford after crashing into his fence, he is taken on an adventurous and insightful tour of self discovery. With Johnny taking him under his wing, he learns that there may be hope after all. Johnny is well versed in the game of golf and reassures Luke of what he will need to do in order to get through the hurdles. Luke is so inspired by his interaction with Johnny that he is motivated to continue looking at his golf life from a new perspective that he never imagined before. He now has more clarity than every before on not only his golf life but his overall life and focus which suddenly gives the stranded visit to Utopia, a positive turning point one. The audience may experience the film's biblical dramatic tone along with a very down to earth human touch, as they follow Luke's towards his dream to go pro while meeting very warm family oriented characters along the way.
