James Connors was a boy who was forced to grow up before his time. He witnessed the horrors of murder as a young boy when his father was murdered. When he decide to join the Civil War as a soldier, he further witnessed the violence people were capable of. Now, as a bounty hunter, James Connors returns to the city where he grew up to find the man who cut his childhood short. He still holds on to the pain of his past and he is more concerned about seeking vengeance than justice alone. During his journey, he comes across his first love, Mary Cooper. She is the woman he left behind. James was not expecting to find love on his quest for revenge, but he can't help but feel influenced by her. However, his plans for revenge go awry when he is attacked by Native Americans and left to die. This experience opens James' eyes up to a whole world without a justice system. He witnesses how vengeance can hide in the dark and strike when least expected. With the help of a new friend, a Native American mystic, he devises a new plan to seek vengeance for his past.
