In the year 1939, on the brink of World War II, a British boarding school for girls named Augusta Victoria College is a sanctuary for the daughters of Nazi leaders, royalty and wealthy families located on the picturesque South coast of England. The students are being groomed to become the future female leaders of the Nazi party. However, beneath the surface, something is brewing, and the girls are unaware of the danger that is lurking around. In Six Minutes to Midnight, Eddie Izzard plays a British spy named Thomas Miller, who is tasked with the job of investigating Augusta Victoria College after his predecessor goes missing. He poses as a teacher at the school to get a closer look at the inner workings of the institution. Miller's primary objective is to find out the truth about who is behind the disappearance of his predecessor and uncover any sinister plots that may be afoot. Miller soon learns that the school is not merely a place of learning but actually serves as a secretive hub for a group of Nazi sympathizers who are conspiring against England. With every passing day, the situation becomes more perilous, and Miller must use all his skills to prevent the Nazis from carrying out their nefarious plans. Judi Dench plays the school's headmistress, Miss Rocholl, who takes a particular interest in Miller. There is much more to her than meets the eye, and Miller suspects that she may have secrets of her own. Nigel Lindsay plays the role of Hauptsturmführer Balzer, a Nazi officer who has close ties to the school. Balzer is a ruthless man who will do whatever it takes to further the Nazi cause, and Miller's presence at the school threatens to derail his plans. The film is set against the backdrop of a world on the brink of war, and the tension is palpable. The cinematography is stunning, and the attention to detail in the costumes and set design is impressive. The music score, composed by Marc Streitenfeld, is evocative and heightens the drama. Six Minutes to Midnight is a well-crafted thriller that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat until the last minute. It highlights an often-overlooked aspect of World War II history: the role that women played in the Nazi regime. The film's strong performances, intriguing plot, and stunning visuals make it a must-see for fans of historical dramas and spy thrillers.
