Skylark is a heartwarming family drama from 1993, starring Glenn Close, Christopher Walken, and Lexi Randall. Set in the early 1900s, the movie takes us on a journey through the struggles and triumphs of a family trying to make ends meet during hard times. Abby (Close) and John (Walken) supra live in a small town in Kansas with their two children, Anna (Randall) and Caleb. They are a hardworking couple who have managed to build a modest life for themselves through years of perseverance and determination. However, their happiness is short-lived when a devastating drought destroys their crops and leaves them struggling to make ends meet.

To make matters worse, Abby's sister-in-law insists that they move to Colorado, where she believes they will have better opportunities. Initially hesitant, Abby finally agrees to move, hoping that it will offer her family a chance at a better life. The journey to Colorado is treacherous, and they face numerous challenges along the way. However, the family manages to pull through, and they finally arrive in their new home.

Their new house is a run-down cabin, and Abby is disappointed, but John is optimistic and convinces her that they can make it work. The family soon falls into a routine of hard work and thrift, as they try to make a living through farming and odd jobs. They also make some new friends in their new town, including an elderly woman named Sarah (Shirley Jones).

Despite their struggles, Abby and John are determined to give their children a good life, and Anna and Caleb thrive in their new surroundings. Abby, who has always been outspoken and independent, begins to feel restless and confined by her new life. She misses her old friends and the sense of community that she had in Kansas. She also finds herself clashing with John over their different ideas on how to raise their children.

As the seasons change, the family faces new challenges, including a harsh winter that threatens their crops and their health. Despite these challenges, they remain steadfast in their determination to make a life for themselves in their new home.

Skylark is a beautifully crafted movie that captures the spirit of hope and resilience of the human spirit. The performances by the cast, especially Glenn Close and Christopher Walken, are outstanding, and the cinematography captures the beauty of the rugged landscape of the American West.

At its heart, Skylark is a family movie that will inspire and uplift audiences. It reminds us that the love and support of family can help us overcome even the toughest of challenges.
