Sultans of the South (Sultanes Del Sur) is a Mexican crime thriller film from 2007 directed by Alejandro Lozano. The film stars Tony Dalton, Ana de la Reguera, and Silverio Palacios in the lead roles. The movie revolves around four robbers who plan a heist in Argentina and face unexpected consequences. The film begins with a group of four thieves who plan to rob a bank in Argentina. The four of them are named El Vasco (Tony Dalton), El Mudo (Silverio Palacios), El Sordo (Julian Sedgwick), and El Ciego (Juan Carlos Colombo), respectively. They hire a local driver from the shantytowns, called El Mexicano (Jorge Zárate) to chase them. However, things take an unexpected turn when one of their accomplices is killed, causing the group to become suspicious of each other.

As the movie progresses, the heist goes wrong, and the four robbers are forced to flee Argentina. They take refuge in El Salvador, but soon the police are on their trail. The tension between the group escalates as they realize they cannot trust each other, and they must figure out a way to escape the police and divide the stolen money amongst themselves.

The film is fast-paced, and the action scenes are intense. The cinematography is excellent, capturing the rawness of the shantytowns in Argentina and the beauty of the Salvadoran countryside. The soundtrack is also a standout feature, featuring Latin rock and electronic music that enhances the movie's overall gritty tone.

The performances of the lead cast are impressive. Tony Dalton, who plays the role of El Vasco, delivers a commanding performance as the group's leader, whose cool demeanor and sharp wit help him navigate through the film's high-pressure situations. Ana de la Reguera plays a small but significant role as an attractive woman who becomes the subject of the group's infighting. Silverio Palacios, who portrays El Mudo, delivers a strong performance, as does Jorge Zárate, who plays El Mexicano.

One of the interesting aspects of the film is how it portrays the harsh realities of life in Latin America. The film accurately depicts the social and economic inequalities that exist in these countries, such as poverty and violence. The shantytowns featured in the movie are incredibly accurate and show the desperation of the people living there.

Overall, Sultans of the South (Sultanes Del Sur) is a gripping heist thriller that boasts excellent performances from its cast, impressive cinematography, and an unforgettable soundtrack. This film is a must-see for fans of the genre and anyone interested in Latin American cinema.
