This is an R.L. Stine movie that is good for older children to watch with parents, and teenagers might find there is just enough fear in the movie to keep them on the edge of their seats. Cassie is a girl who recently moved to the town. She doesn't have many friends, so she decides to learn more about the occult. She goes to a Halloween store where the owner attempts to get her to buy a book that is rather old. After buying the book, she takes it home to read to her brother. There is a warning on the book to not read it out loud. You're not supposed to think about the monster in the book either. Max is captured by the monster in the book, and Cassie and her friends do everything they can, with a few twists and turns, to try to get him back.
